Meeting new people

Being a nail tech I learned quick that I would be meeting new people constantly. I didn’t think I would be much of a people’s person but I thought wrong.

I enjoy being able to meet new people especially because I’m such a homebody. I’ve met all types of people like doctors, makeup artists, lawyers, warehouse associates, accountants and more. Beauty is a rapidly growing industry and everyone wants to be as confident as they can be.

This time to your client is therapeutic so be aware that they will tell you their whole life story. Or they might sit there and fall asleep or be silent the entire time. Understand the psychology of a client.

It is OK to fire a customer some people are just not meant to be your client based off whatever reason. It is better to act professional then any other thing because this is your business. Be sure to treat everyone with the respect as the customer and someone who supports your business. Like always respect is given both ways.

Business is Business

A business is an investment. First as an investment in yourself whether it be Education, equipment, or products. Money is spent so budgeting and financing is important to any entrepreneur. I recommend everyone who is a business owner, or self employed To educate yourself in business finance. There are plenty of books, videos and social media platforms to take your business to the next level.

Set a monthly meeting with yourself or team to go over all of the business profits, expenses, and check on business reputation. Business reputation? This is single-handedly one of the most important aspects of the business no matter what business you’re in. Your reputation is your online presence and off-line presents to your customers/clients.

I always recommend getting a professional to help you maintain your business properly. This is what I mean by having the right circle in the right team. This is also why reputation is essential because people will judge you all of your reputation.

Set boundaries

As I mentioned you’ll be meeting a lot of people. Even people you have built a good relationship with. There is nothing wrong with having friends that support your business or people that support your business as friends. Just understand that it’s a fine line because of the obvious reasons.

Keep it a mutual beneficial friendship with anyone in your life. Successful people want to hang around successful people. This is one of the best ways I have found to maintain and good relationship with Clients, friends and coworkers.

Never let anyone disrespect your craft

I do not tolerate anyone trying to bully or disrespect me. I feel like if anyone takes your craft as a joke just shows that you’re not on the same level. Nor shall you stoop to their level. Always be professional and take the proper steps to protect yourself and the business. If you can afford one have your lawyer give you the proper advise.

When to say the PRICE WENT 🆙

This is something that I struggled with myself. You have to let your clients Know that the price went up. Try to personalize it as much as possible whether it be a social media post, in-person or email/text blast message. As you continue to invest into education and perfecting your craft you need to make sure that you’re getting compensated for that. Under valuing yourself will not keep you happy which won’t make you want to continue doing it. So remember return on investment it’s something that clients have to pay for your expertise.

Motivation Patience & Consistency

Motivation is one of the hardest things to keep because you aren’t being consistent. Especially with skills you definitely have to use it or you’ll lose it. Then you’re gonna have to depreciate your price instead of the opposite. Patience is key because nothing is easy, or quick you have to put in the work and continue to believe in yourself. Everyone thought something was hard until they mastered it. So remember the only time you lose is when you give up.
